Announcement: the next Challenging Practice Stage A Seminar will take place on 19-20 May in London. Sign up now! March 28, 2018
Challenging Practice is an independent-learning programme for built environment practitioners and students to learn to engage with vulnerable urban groups, and reflect on the challenges of international development.
It aims to prepare attendants to working in the field, whether in the global North or South, and can be followed up by a Stage B internship or workshop which will allow you to put these newly learnt skills into practice!
ASF-UK will be running a Stage A weekend seminar on 19th-20th May 2018 to enable participants to reflect on their knowledge gained from the readings of the Introduction through case studies, facilitated discussions, interactive scenario building, and role plays.
Title: Challenging Practice Stage A: Learning in Action
Dates: 19th-20th May 2018, 10am-5pm
Location: 7A Langley St, London WC2H 9JA
Cost: £120 if you are working / £80 if you are a student or unemployed
In preparation for the course, please read at least around 2/3 readings of the Introduction.
Over the two days we will cover in depth the three key principles of community engagement (participation, discrimination, and sustainable approaches), one built environment principle (eg. land tenure) and two project implementation tools (eg. theoretical frameworks and partnership) through participatory exercises, real-life scenarios and role play.
You’ll also have the chance to get to known ASF-UK associates and learn about the wider work organisation, along with meeting other participants that are interested in working in this field!
For more information please contact challengingpractice@.
Deadline for bookings: Friday 11th May 2018
