The Role of Action Area Plans for Inclusive City-Making in Freetown

Location: Freetown, Sierra Leone

Architecture Sans Frontières – United Kingdom (ASF-UK) is recruiting a field volunteer to support an exciting new project in Freetown, Sierra Leone. This is an opportunity for a student/practitioner with a background in the built environment, community development and participatory design to support in the production of participatory neighbourhood plans of two informal settlements in Freetown, drawing on the ASF-UK Change by Design methodology.

This initiative is part of a partnership between ASF-UK, the Sierra Leone Urban Research Centre of Njala University (SLURC), The Bartlett Development Planning Unit of University College London (DPU) and local NGO’s and communities in Freetown to explore the role that participatory neighbourhood planning can play in inclusive city making.
