Story of Change #4 – Challenging Practice Course

Redefining the culture of architecture and planning

Since 2012, ASF-UK has led the Challenging Practice programme to transform how built environment professionals engage with cities and communities.

For Maya and Noor, two young professionals from different disciplines, the course became a turning point. Through its three-stage structure—combining seminars, fieldwork, and reflective learning—they gained the tools, confidence, and experience to make social impact central to their practice.

🌍 Impact highlights:
✔️ Over 500 participants engaged globally
✔️ A learning pathway that integrates theory, practice, and reflection
✔️ Alumni actively shaping more inclusive and participatory urban development

Now active Associates of ASF-UK, Maya and Noor support others on similar journeys—helping expand a global movement of practitioners committed to just and community-led design.

Architecture Sans Frontières UK is registered in England and Wales under charity number 1123786.
