Participation for Development Workshop / UK / ongoing
Successful architecture is relevant to place and people. As a result Architects have to engage with the individuals and communities that will occupy the buildings they design. Meaningful work with communities and stakeholders as part of design and research has many challenges. The methods, tools and techniques of participatory working are not generally part of the academic curriculum. However, engaging with stakeholders is a large step towards finding out what they need and how it can be achieved. This is a one day workshop designed to give participants an introduction to the methods, tools and techniques of community engagement, as well as an introduction to the basic principles that underpin this approach. The workshop itself is run in a participatory manner, allowing for conversation, questioning and feedback from the participants throughout the day.
